Flu Shot FAQ
Who is eligible for flu shots?
Anyone under 65 years old! This includes parents, nannies, grandparents, and your children, of course.
When will my baby receive their first flu shot?
Babies receive their first flu shot at 6 months of life. They will need 2 flu shots this first year (each dose separated by at least 1 month).
Can parents receive flu shots even if our baby hasn't been born yet or isn't old enough?
Yes! Now that you're members of Modern Pediatrics, we've got you covered.
Do your flu shots contain preservatives or thimerosal?
No. We use Fluzone Quadrivalent, which does not contain preservatives or thimerosal.
How are the flu shots billed?
We bill flu shots to the insurance you have on file. If a caregiver would like to use other insurance or pay cash, you can let us know through the flu shot reservation link.
What is the cash pay rate for flu shots?
If you choose not to use insurance for your flu shot, the cash pay rates is $35.
How does a flu shot visit work?
Just like any other Modern Pediatrics visit! Flu shot visits are scheduled via text message and we arrive within the arrival window. These visits will be very short though.
Is there a separate consent required for flu shot visits?
Yes, we require consent to our flu shot terms on behalf of all family members receiving a flu shot.
Are there common side effects from the flu shots we should be aware of?
There are some common side effects, which you can read about here.
Why aren't you offering flu shots to people over 65?
We wish we could offer flu shots to everyone, but people over 65 require a special high-dose flu shot that we don't normally carry.
