Dallas Ophthalmology and Optometry

Which one does my child need?

  • An ophthalmologist diagnoses and treats all eye diseases, performs eye surgery, and prescribes and fits eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems.
  • An optometrist addresses primary eye health, such as performing eye exams and vision tests, detecting vision problems, and prescribing corrective treatments such as glasses, contact lenses and medications
  • For vision concerns your child can see an opthalmologist or optometrist. Opthalmologists often have a longer wait list. If there are concerns for prolonged blocked tear ducts, eye crossing, eye trauma, or certain eye diseases we would recommend an opthalmologist.
